Tangaratta Vineyard has a rich history.
The property was originally named "Strathaven" and was a mixed farming business including poultry, sheep, pigs and a dairy farm. The beautiful cellar door and bar area is the original cottage which was built in 1923 by the Woods family who had 12 children - seven boys and five girls!
Onto the vines....
In 1998, the property was purchased to establish a vineyard; and what a fine vineyard it is! Tangaratta Vineyard includes grapes to produce Shiraz, Verdelho and Cabernet Sauvignon. While the vines are currently under the weather and are being cared for, we have a wide range of wines blended just for us in Victoria.
What's in a name?
The name 'Tangaratta' draws from nearby creek - Tangaratta Creek which is a tributary of the Peel River.
